DATE ADDED: Tuesday 15th October 2013
The British race driver Sean Edwards was killed in a fatal accident today during a private driving training on the Queensland Raceway in Australia. The 26-year-old Edwards, who was contesting the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland and the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup this season, was sitting in the passenger seat as an instructor when the accident happened.Edwards has for many years been one of the most popular and successful pilots in the Porsche one-make race series.
"Sean was the benchmark for me, much the same for the other competitors in Porsche Supercup." Said Ben Barker. "He had an incredible knack not to give too much away, but at the same time help you out a little when it comes to lines, how much curb to take or not.. I learnt to never underestimate his curb hopping ability!"
"It will be so sad not to see him in the paddock any more, but one thing is for sure that he will not be forgotten and he leaves us as 2013 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup champion. Rest in Peace buddy"
Thoughts and best wishes go out to his family and closest.
